"We Seek Higher Things"
The staff of Mount Larcom State School and Secondary Department extends a warm welcome to you and your children for the school year for 2009.
Everything we do at Mount Larcom School is geared towards helping students achieve excellent results. Our staff are keen to provide your child with the best possible education. We encourage students to reach their potential by setting goals and steadily working towards attaining them.
Parents, students and staff are all valued members of the Mount Larcom School community. The school works towards developing links between parents and staff and we believe that when these links are strong, student learning is maximised.
The Mt Larcom State School and Secondary Department, as a P-10 campus offers a curriculum which ensures that students who attend this school achieve outcomes that will allow them to make clear paths to senior schooling, TAFE or the workforce. We are a Key Learning Area school and the Queensland Studies Authority syllabus documents are used as the basis for integrated units of work that students will study. Curriculum and assessment will follow the Queensland Curriculum Assessment and Reporting or QCAR approach which is currently being introduced across Queensland. Our aim is to offer subjects that will engage students in higher order thinking with activities that allow connectedness to the real world.
Our programs have been developed and are implemented based upon the understanding that parents and staff are working together with students as the main focus. If at any time you feel that this partnership is not working, I would encourage you to contact the school to discuss the situation.
Terry Rudder
Acting Principal
